for the mission and mission of the church
Almighty God, We pray for your Church, here locally, and across the world.
We pray for her ministers. By the power of your Holy Spirit grant them the gifts of leadership, and equip them to enable your people to fulfil their calling
as fishers of men and women, making disciples of all people and baptising in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
May your church be the body of Christ on earth - a channel of your love, getting alongside people in need, people sad, lonely, abused, exploited and marginalised, and proclaiming the Gospel of salvation.
Grant the Church your protection. May she speak truth to power, and give her the opportunities to make Christ known that lives may be transformed and your Kingdom grow in all sorts of wonderful ways, to your praise and glory.

for persecuted Christians
for persecuted Christians
Loving God, your Son was ridiculed, unjustly tried, and put to death upon a cross, yet the Authorities could find no basis for the charges against him.
We pray for all who are persecuted for their faith. We pray that Christians will support one another, those living locally and Christian brothers and sisters across the world.
We ask for their protection and for resilience, that their faith will hold strong, and that the Holy Spirit will give them the right words to say. May their unflinching resistance be a witness to their faith, may it inspire others and change the hearts and minds of their persecutors.
Lord God, in times of greatest challenge be their guide and protection. May knowledge of your love, the presence of the Holy Spirit, and your promise of eternal life, uphold them in their trials and enable them to withstand all that is held against them.
May Christian people be people of peace. May they resist persecution but not retaliate with violence. Help us all to recall your words, "vengeance is mine, says the Lord."
We pray for tolerance, compassion and love, that your will shall be done in the world.
In Jesus name we pray, Amen.
for the growing church
Almighty God, you call us to love our neighbour as ourselves, and follow Jesus' example to love sacrificially. We thank you for the growth of Christian witness in xxxx. We thank you that people who proclaim Jesus as Lord and Saviour are living out their calling to be fishers of men and women, being channels of your love by helping those in need and proclaiming your Gospel of salvation.
We ask your protection and your blessing for the Church in xxxx. May it truly be the body of Christ in that place and its work continue to bear much fruit.
May your people across the world see what is happening and by the power of your holy Spirit be encouraged and equipped to provide both practical Christianity and spiritual support to people in need.
We pray that your Kingdom will grow throughout the earth.
In the name of Jesus, our Lord and Saviour, we pray.
